Ep. 10 Navigating Change

Ep. 10 Navigating Change

About this Episode

Hi! Welcome to the Creative Force podcast. In this episode, I talk with Airbnb host Emily Heath on the topic of “Navigating Change.” We talk about dealing with change that happens as a result from moving, motherhood, and stepping out in faith. This conversation is for anyone who is wanting to let go of control and trust God through the changes of life.

Scriptures Mentioned

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. – John 14:1

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper. - Psalm 1:1-3

 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. – Hebrews 11:8

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. - Romans 8:34

Takeaways

Let go of control and put your focus on God.

When I realize that I just need to give Him control of the situation and give Him whatever is burdening me, He works, like He works in that situation.

If you’re going into this business or any business because you’re passionate about it, you can’t really lose, because the end goal will be a beautiful product, happy guests, happy customers, not the money.

Airbnb advice - Do it because you are passionate about it, find a specific niche, be the kind of host you want, do it right the first time.

If you make your place you will attract nice guests.

Writing listing set extremely realistic expectations.

Your place is not right for everyone; you want the right guests staying at your place.

Saying yes to this isn’t saying no to all of your other desires.

To navigate a big change, it’s giving up that control, it’s trusting that God wants the best for you, it’s not leaning on your own understanding and it’s realizing that you’re not giving up everything else.

No matter what God calls you to do, it’s going to be a walk, it’s going to be taking those steps in the direction of faithfulness.

Keep your mind focused on the Word and your vision.

Take those steps in the direction of faithfulness.

Give Him that worry and just watch Him work through us.

And when you know who God is, and you know His character, and you know how He loves you and His goodness, you can give up control.
