Get Out of Delay Mode and Follow Through on Your Dreams

About

Hello and Welcome to the Creative Force Podcast, in this episode I sat down with returning guest Tannera Lindvall, founder of Communication Architect, speaker, life coach, and author of the book Decision Day. Tannera breaks down the real reasons people stay stuck in delay mode, including perfectionism, fear of failure, fear of success, analysis paralysis, and the need to have every option open before making a move. She also unpacks the joy of focused engagement over the fear of missing out and how to start rebuilding trust with yourself through small consistent action. If you know what you need to do but keep putting it off, this episode is your decision day.

My Takeaways

Being busy is not the same as being productive. Productivity means moving toward the accomplishment of your God given vision and goals, not just checking off a to do list.

Procrastination is not a time problem. It is an emotional one. The real issue is usually fear of failure, fear of success, fear of judgment, or fear of the unknown hiding underneath the excuse of not having enough time.

Perfectionism is really about caring too much about the opinions of others. Anything worth doing is worth doing messy. God celebrates your trying, not your perfection.

Analysis paralysis and needing every option open before deciding is still procrastination. The true answer is usually five to seven questions deep, not on the surface.

The Abimelech Principle: even if you make the wrong decision in faith and with a pure heart, God will course correct you and make the end better than the beginning. You do not have to be afraid of choosing wrong.

Clarity comes through action, not more research. When you take the first step, experiential knowledge changes everything and step two looks different than you planned.

The only thing that can truly stop you is your choice to quit. Failure cannot stop you. People's opinions cannot stop you. Only quitting can.

FOMO trades sustainable joy for momentary joy. The Joy of Focused Engagement (JOFE) means choosing one thing and going deep on it. No one has ever regretted finishing a marathon or completing a dream they worked hard for.

To make action your default, start with the simplest possible step. Rebuild trust with yourself through easy consistent wins before taking on the harder tasks.

Getting unstuck means leaving things behind. Old mindsets, fear of what people think, perfectionism, and self distrust all have to be left in the mud so you can put on new shoes and move forward.

Write your goals down, put them on your calendar, and protect your yes. Say no to everything else in that time slot and show up for yourself.

Hebrews 11:6 — It is only our faith that pleases him.

James 2:17 — Faith without works is dead.

James 1:22 — Be doers of the word and not just hearers.
