How to Step into Your Entrepreneurial Purpose

How to Step into Your Entrepreneurial Purpose

About

Hi, Welcome to the Creative Force Podcast! In this episode, I sit down with Karen Conrad Metcalfe, a business entrepreneur, real estate coach, home stager, speaker, and author of The Promise of Purpose. Karen shares her powerful testimony of how she stepped away from a successful 25-year banking career at God's prompting. This conversation covers entrepreneurship, identity, the role of the heart in receiving God's blessings, and how to stay anchored in faith when results are slow to come.

My Take-aways

Your job is not your purpose. Purpose transcends any one position or career, it's the thread that runs through everything you do.

God's gifts and talents in you are actually His and He is more concerned about them being recognized and valued than even you are.

Multi-passionate people aren't scattered, there's often one overarching God-given purpose underneath all the varied interests.

God sometimes makes your current situation uncomfortable on purpose like the mama eagle removing cushion from the nest to prepare you to fly.

There are four stages when stepping into something new: (1) Unaware of incompetency (excitement), (2) Aware of incompetency (distress), (3) Competency, (4) Mastery/Expert. Distress is normal and necessary, don't quit there.

When results are slow, your job is to plant and water. God brings the increase. Take the pressure off yourself and stay faithful to the process.

Disappointment is a temptation. Choose to exalt the Word of God over your circumstances rather than letting your flesh find an excuse to quit.

Your heart must have the capacity to receive what God has for you. Unhealed wounds, fear of pain, and closed boundaries can cause you to self-sabotage even when God is answering your prayers.

You can trust your desires. If you love the Lord, the desires He's placed in your heart are from Him, stop second-guessing them.

Declare the end from the beginning. Settle it: this business is already successful. Then go get the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to walk it out.

Scriptures

1 Corinthians 3:6 - One plants, one waters, but God gives the increase.

Deuteronomy 28:11–12 - The Lord will give you great prosperity... He will bless everything you do.

Proverbs 23:7 - As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

James 1:8 - A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.
