Maintaining a Healthy Work-Life Balance

Maintaining a Healthy Work-Life Balance

About

Hi, Welcome to the Creative Force podcast. This week on the podcast is Brittnie Renee. Brittnie is a photographer, host of The Organized Creative podcast, and the creator of the Capture the Chaos planner for business creatives. In this episode, we explore practical strategies for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, including the power of time blocking, setting boundaries, and using the matrix system to prioritize what matters most.

My Takeaways

Put your kitchen to bed at night if you have kids when they are still awake! Start your morning off right.

Time Blocking: Break your day into blocks: work block, cleaning block, school block, etc.

Matrix System: Write out all you need to do for the week and then rank the items.

1 – important/urgent – things that really need to get done.

2 – important/not urgent

3 –not important/urgent – try to outsource.

4 – not important/not urgent – is this something you really need to do?

Write out the three things you need to get done for the day.

Set boundaries with yourself and then communicate those boundaries to others. If you’re encroaching on your own boundaries other people will do that as well.

It’s a lot harder to climb out of burn-out then to stop yourself and slow down beforehand.

Create a time audit. Write down how you spent your time for a week. Then go through and look do I really need or want to be doing this? When you can group similar tasks together you are going to save a lot of time.

Task switching cost - It roughly takes about 22 minutes to fully get into a task.
